Jewellery Care

Unless specified, all GAIA pieces are nickel free costume jewellery. GAIA is not responsible for the maintenance of your jewellery.

Costume jewellery will change colour over time with wear and tear and various other reasons.

To make the colour of your jewellery last longer, we suggest you keep your GAIA pieces away from:

  • water
  • dishwashing soap
  • lotion
  • perfume
  • hair products
  • jewellery cleaners
  • other harsh chemicals
  • remove while exercising to avoid contact with sweat

Where stated, gold plated is a coat of gold over a lesser metal such as brass. It is still subject to colour loss. A base metal such as steel or brass is dipped into a bath of electroplating solution, with a lump of solid gold. When an electric current is applied, a thin layer of gold is deposited on the metal. Since the plating is quite thin, the plate (and hence the colour) can wear off but not as quickly as non-gold plated.

Everyone's skin type is different. Some people have strong reactions to certain metals, kindly ensure that you are not allergic to any of our jewellery metals before purchasing. We will not be liable for any damages as a result of any allergic reactions caused by any of our products.

No refunds or returns are given for this reason or for the change in your jewellery colour as a result of using lotions, fragrances or skin oils, etc.

Your GAIA jewellery should be the last thing you put on and the first thing you take off. The air around us is what makes metal tarnish. We recommend using a ziploc or sandwich bag with the air squeezed out to prevent oxidization or when storing your fashion jewellery try wrapping each piece in anti-tarnish paper. If you don't have anti-tarnish paper use an eyeglass cloth.
